Russell Matthews is responsible for the firm’s development, management, and leasing activities on Long Island. A significant focus of Mr. Matthews’ work has been the revitalization of Garden City’s central business district. In 1995 Mr. Matthews was appointed by the Mayor of Garden City to serve on the Village’s Business Planning Coalition, formed to develop a strategic plan to address the decline of the Village’s vital Franklin Avenue business district. In concert with the Village’s efforts, Mr. Matthews spearheaded the firm’s partnership with Castagna Realty to acquire and redevelop some of the most prominent buildings along Franklin Avenue, including 1001 Franklin Avenue, Long Island’s first LEED certified commercial office building. Today, Garden City is renowned as the financial and legal center of Long Island and is a model for downtown revitalization. Mr. Matthews also represents the Company on several Boards, including the Association for a Better Long Island, the Garden City Chamber of Commerce, the Coalition Against Child Abuse and Neglect, the Mental Health Association of Nassau County, Adelphi University’s President’s Advisory Council, the Tilles Center Council of Overseers, and the Nassau County Museum of Art’s Corporate Committee. Mr. Matthews holds a B.A. from Rutgers College and a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law.
